For the upcoming Monsters University, the crew took to college campuses to create an authentic college atmosphere.įor Brave, as seen above, Pixar employees also studied the art of sword fighting and archery. As we know, Pixar holds nothing back when performing research, as some crew members visited a garbage dump, daycare centers, and a prison for Toy Story 3 research.

To perform research, crew members visited Scotland and studied the culture and beautiful landscapes. From that point on, it has been in production for about four years. Brenda Chapman (Director of The Prince of Egypt, Story Supervisor on The Lion King) had been working on the idea for years and presented it to Pixar, who then began work on the film in 2008.
